Alyssa "adopted" a new baby this week. She found a large sweet potato from the pantry and decided to care for her new "Baby Taytum." She's been hauling Taytum around the house all week wrapped in blanket. She made a bed for her in the laundry basket and has her sleep next to her bed. She even gave Taytum a little lecture about why she needs to wear clothes. "Taytum, its not propriate to go around naked." (Alyssa loves to strip all her clothes off after she's gotten dressed for the day and run around with just a blanket wrapped around her. At least I know she remembers my advice... even though she doesn't follow it enough). But Taytum has too many nicks and bruises so today we peeled her (bathed her) & chopped her up.
Alyssa's dealing with her loss pretty well. Now her new thing is the "virtual fridge." Yesterday she brought her cup of milk in the family room to drink on the new carpet. After she chose to disobey and bring it back in, I took it away. She was pretty upset. Rebecca distracted her by offering her some milk from the "virtual fridge." She pretended to open a door by the wall, pulled out some imaginary milk and offered Alyssa a drink. Then they snacked on some "virtual cookies" from another imaginary cupboard. Alyssa forgot all about losing her milk and has had fun ever since offering people "virtual food." No wonder Rebecca gets repeated calls to come and babysit. She really is a lot of fun & she gets plenty of practice with her siblings.

That's so cute!
ReplyDeleteHaha that is cute! When I was 5, my 'baby' was a bag of popcorn seeds. I carried it around calling it my baby and did the same sort of things as Alyssa. For Christmas that year, my mom put popcorn seeds into a baby onesie, sewed up all of the sleeve/leg holes, and that was my new 'popcorn baby'!
