Little Girls

It couldn't resist snapping a few photos of my little girls on this perfect evening on the way home from Pack Meeting. These pictures make me think of the scripture Matthew 18:3 " Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven." I love Emily's expressions of delight, discovery, innoncence and spontaneity. And it looks like Alyssa takes after her... she loves being outside!

Wolf

Jacob was awarded his Wolf badge at the last pack meeting -a Raingutter Regatta. He loves scouts and his leaders do a fabulous job of planning fun activities. Last month they focused on physical fitness and he surprised all the Bears and Wolves in his pack by easily defeating them in the stick pull. Those early morning daily push-ups with his dad paid off! I love to watch the humble, quiet yet happy expression on his face when he ends up with a victory.
All of the kids got to design their own "boat" with empty juice cartons and duct tape. Emily was too short to reach her boat after her first puff of air so Jared joined her to help her blow through in between her tears. She's quite the competitive little girl.

Jacob came in first place in his first race. I was relieved that none of the kids passed out after I watched all of their fierce blowing. I probably would have!

Becca's Birthday Bash

Rebecca chose a Texas Fudge Cake again this year... so scrumptious, it is a favorite at our house. It made the perfect "mudhole" for her Littlest Pet Shop pigs!
After decorating notebooks and pencil cans the girls headed out back for some backyard games.

Rebecca has a a soft spot in her heart for pink pigs. So she planned her birthday party with a pink pig theme. I stayed up late with her making her pinata the night before her party and then we transformed it into this cute little pig. I think she was a little timid to destroy her creation! I was just amazed that the flimsy thing lasted for everyone to have a turn at whacking it.

It feels like it was just yesterday she was 1... now she's 11!

Piano Play

Alyssa is getting so big and delightful and it is so fun to watch her move to the beat when I practice piano. She is into everything - including my piano cabinet!

After "crafting" some fun mothers day treat cans from "Our Best Bites" with Rebecca, I made this little piano pencil can to keep my "bottom drawer teaching supplies" out of reach from her little fingers.

And here's my latest piano creation.

Girl Bonding Time

E

A few weeks ago while the boys were out camping, we had our own fondue party at home. Rebecca invited her best friend over. It was finally a perfect night for playing outside- Emily even put on her swimsuit! So after stuffing our bellies with chocolate, fruit, cake and marshmallows we headed out back and even"Trigger" the cat came to join the party. Hopefully she feasted on some mice when we weren't looking.
Emily was so excited to get to wear matching PJs with Alyssa.
I was hoping to introduce my girls to my favorite chic flick - Anne of Green Gables, but the girls outvoted me and watched Parent Trap instead....maybe I'll have to wait a few more years.

Zoo

We decided to make "vacation" out of our trip down for Utah for Paul's wedding. Unfortunately in my efforts to "be prepared" I left the camera battery charging back at home, so we only have pics of everything on Jared's phone. We had a great time at the zoo! Then we headed to Temple Square & the church art museum.

Paul is now a married man.

It's Spring!!!!

I am so happy that it has finally warmed up for the kids to enjoy playing outside and for me to open all the windows and air out the house. Our backyard has been full of friends lately... playing football, digging in the giant dirt pit (trampoline hole), swinging on the swingset, and playing basketball. The newest attraction to our backyard is "our" cat named Trigger. It wandered into our yard and has been getting so much attention that it just keeps on coming back. Maybe the plentiful food source is part of the reason (we have a serious infestation of voles). I'm seriously allergic to cats, so its been kind of nice to have Trigger helping out with our vole problem without feeling the true obligation of a pet owner. The kids are enamored with having a "pet"- until Trigger decides to return back to his unknown owner.

Prepare yourself for an overload of baby pics - Alyssa started clapping when I took her outside and I couldn't decide which pictures were my favorite so I posted them all.

Look I found some dirt! Do you think it tastes as good as carpet fibers??? Let me find out.
Alyssa adores Rebecca - sometimes she even prefers her over me!
Look at all those teeth. She finally is learning to enjoy "real" food and has learned to let out some pretty loud screeches at the dinner table when she sees us eating something she wants.

I'm a bulb lover! It's so nice to have the yard decorate itself in the spring without me doing any work. They were definitely worth the investment.

Emily was so excited to have her hair fixed "cheerleader style" today.
