When I was a child, we attended the Day's of '47 Parade only once. My memory of searching for a parking spot, wading through thick crowds and standing in the hot sun to not be close enough to see or catch any candy was enough to keep me from ever going to a parade again. My husband shares my same sentiments about parades, so my children have never experienced a parade.. until this year. As part of the junior high cheer team, Emily got to walk, dance and cheer, and Rebecca joined her friends dressed up as a WWII nurse driving in an army jeep so we came to watch. Fortunately, this small town parade was a lot different than my big city experience. The weather was in the perfect 70's, with very little traffic and Alyssa and Joshua were delighted to stand on the front line gathering candy, toys and freezer pops being hurled through the air as they watched the parade go by.
