Beginning the last week of school, Jacob got to join the ranks of his Grandma Knight as a pipe mover. She grew up on a ranch in a small southern Utah town in the "boonies" and spent the summers as the 5th daughter of a rancher moving sprinkler pipes in the fields. Jacob learned the hard way that you have to swallow a bit of pride and dress without style in favor of comfort for the job. On the first day, he wore some old work boots of Jared. After 2 days trudging through the wet fields, he came home and the bottom of the soles was falling off. So he got some new army green work boots and several farm pants at the thrift store. When I wanted to take his picture in the baggy pants this was his initial reaction. He quickly changed into some more stylish pants sporting his tough guy frown for the picture. After a few more wet days of water filling the boots hopefully, he's convinced that although the baggy pants may be ugly they are the more practical choice that can form an "umbrella" over his boots until he gets some real waders.
